Ayurvedic Yoga Massage (AYM) is a full body massage, involving deep tissue stimulation, assisted Yogic stretches and breath work. It is designed to remove blockages in the muscles and joints, and create a sense of ‘openness’ and deep relaxation.

An important aspect of this technique is working with the breath, which helps increase the therapeutic effects and awareness, both for the person giving and receiving it. Mindful touch and deep, relaxed breathing allow the nervous system to relax and let go. This helps to re-educate the body and brings long lasting effects of feeling centred, less likely to get agitated or restless, and experience clarity of thoughts.

Another unique tool of the AYM is the use of calamus root powder which, mixed with a little oil, helps remove toxins from the organism and warms up the tissue. The scrubbing and stimulating feeling awakens the skin, blood circulation and the senses.

This training will prepare you to perform a session of full body Ayurvedic Yoga Massage. You will learn a sequence consisting of warming up of the body, deep tissue stimulation and selected assisted stretches, along with their indications and contraindications.

Ayurvedic Yoga Massage, apart from its physical therapeutic benefits, is a form of energy work. We learn about the benefits of incorporating breath work and meditation into our massage sessions which make the effects of AYM deeper, more healing and longer lasting.

The course is designed for both massage therapists looking for a new set of skills and beginners on the path of body work.

It is especially beneficial for Yoga teachers and practitioners, as it helps to develop body awareness and recognise the body’s needs and limits.

This training is 90% practice, 10% theory.

- course manual with pictures and detailed description of every position
